SXSW Day 1 The Arrival

Got into the office at 9am. Banged out some work before heading down to San Diego by 11am. Yes, we are flying out of SD. Why? I don't ask questions anymore. All I know, is, that's what it is. Quick stop off at Wahoo's in Pt. Loma for a quick bite to eat. Grilled chicken bowl, all rice, no beans and washed down with an iced tea. Tal O'Farrell, owner of Wahoo's Pt Loma and co-founder of Sector 9 skateboards, was kind enough to drop us off at the airport.

WOW! First time in six years that the metal detector did not beep me and I did not have to go thru the routine torture of being swapped by the hand wand for any hidden weapons or foreign objects! I am impressed with this airport! Today is definitely going to be a good day!

Wing Lam and I just chilling at the San Diego Airport waiting for our flight.

Finally on the plane. It's a packed flight to Austin, TX. But on a Wednesday??
Fully booked flights don't bug me. But people who talk out loud and knowing it annoys everyone else on the plane and continue talking out loud with useless nonsense, that bugs me.
I could go on about her, but that would make me the annoying person, so I'll stop there.

Yes, even on the plane, I am still working. But with only 67% battery life left. That didn't last very long. Just enough to complete 2 more Wahoo's ads plus answer several emails and proposals then send off when I can plug in to wi fi.

Lunchtime! I would take a pic of the peanuts but I ate them.

After being picked up at the airport by the Red Bull limo with Jourdan Adler, owner of Wahoo's in Austin, TX, we are finally settled in at the Hilton Gardens in Austin, TX. Of course, I have to setup my work station so I can get charge all my iphones, my G1, and my Boostmobile phone, plus the Macbook and all other accessories before starting the night at SXSW.

Here we go! Walking down 6th Street into the SXSW mess of bars, clubs and restaurants.

Rock Da Mullet spotted by an Austin local and club promoter! Yes, free hookups to the club and drinks! Not bad so far!

One of the clubs was sponsored by Monster. Lots of beats. Lots of people having fun, dancing and lots of free booze to go! Monster and Vodka mixes can never be wrong!

Gotta take a pic with all the freaks in the streets!

Lines, lines, lines galore out the door at each and every club and venue. It is ridiculously insane and it's only Wednesday! Crowds expected to quadruple in the next few days!

I don't know what has the most lines, the bars or the hot dog and bratwurst stands on every single corner you turn. At least, I know I won't starve out here!

More lines at the bars . . .

More lines at the Hot Dog stands . . .

Best of all, more local fans of Rock Da Mullet. Meet Haley and her friend, who was hooked up with Warped Tour VIP passes last year!

Whew! what a night!

wow those lines are long! And I totally know what you mean about THAT person on the airplane. We had one behind us on our flight into San Diego.

The lines were pretty crazy! SXSW badges make life so much easier. There are a lot of freaks on the streets in Austin. Nice photo!
